One of my favorite kid joke punch lines. "Look at that S car go."

"Color logic"? In B&W-only puzzle?
Anyhow, looks like a snail to me...

"Found to be solvable by line and color logic alone" is the lowest level of logical solving. I merely choose that from a list - the WebPBN Robot is the one who makes the comment.

The site is smart enough to know that the puzzle has only one color (see the solvability at the top of this page: it says "line logic only"), but the robot's responses were probably simplified for ... well, simplicity.

Ah! I always wondered about that! Neat!! With all the recursivity I'd imagine the robot needs to determine the solvability of the puzzle, I'm amazed it doesn't run at the pace of this very puzzle's depicted animal.

... Or is there some really simple solution that I just can't naturally foresee, e.g. sum all the rows and sum all the columns and if they don't match, it's logically LL-solvable??? :o

The solvability is usually set when the puzzle is created. There is a solving program that runs on the server that checks and is nearly 100% at catching all line-logic-only puzzles. It is also pretty good at figuring out moderate-lookahead.
It is also extremely good at figuring out whether the puzzle has a unique solution.

If the checker program cannot figure out one of these things, it leaves it to be set later. (Solvers can vote on these, but only a few people have the ability to *set* these values, because vandalism)

When one of the "moderators" sets the value, then the WebPBN forum robot then makes a comment saying who set the value and to what it was set. (If the puzzle is one of the horrible ones that the checker can't figure out the uniqueness of, then anyone who finds the first alternate solution will trigger the robot's response)

The reason that you find some puzzles with neither set is because we had a server mishap several years ago that wiped out the database - and backups for a couple years. So those have to be redone by hand

Indeed, thinking back to when I made these, I'd make sure the system said the puzzle was solvable with line logic only, then I'd do a test run to make sure it wasn't extremely boring before publishing it.
