Puzzle Description:

Riot gear....How many of you are aware of or following what's going on in Ferguson, MO? Craziness! Looting, riots, moltov cocktails, etc..(it's in the northern St Louis metro area--grew up in north county, live 10 mins from there, and still head up that way occasionally)

after initial line logic...

el the 5 in c20 dots c20, r's 1-3 and 15

el the 5 in r16 dots r16c18. more ll

iel with the 1 clue in r3 dots r1,c's 17-19 and r2, c's 17-19

now no matter where the remaining 2 clue in r1 or r2 lies, the 4 in c16 gets triggered and r2c16 is a black. lots of line logic...

either r9c10 or r9c11 must be black...either way, r10c11 will be black

now for a bit of 2-way... whether the 2 clue in r10 extends to the right or left of the black you already have, r9c11 will be a dot. line logic finishes

Loved the solve! Hate what's happening!

yeah, it's a shame...none of it makes any sense.

glad you liked it! :) (thought it was about time for a small toughie. no one's made one in a while...)

Kurt, I'm nearby, too. Many people are turning to their churches this weekend.
#5: Thomas Genuine (Genuine) on Aug 16, 2014
Kurt, I started solve it by my own method and there wasn't any guesses :)
#6: Kurt Kowalczyk (bahabro) on Aug 16, 2014
shouldn't be...it's a totally logical puzz
#7: Kurt Kowalczyk (bahabro) on Aug 16, 2014
might sound crazy, but I thought about going down there to see what I can do. prob a bad idea, but a whole lot more useful than spending your time in a church. idk...one or a few, and I can control the outcome. lots of ppl is too much. I see it as a test, in a way. question is, am I ready for the test?

If you go, be careful...lots of anger centered there. I live in St. Louis too. I haven't been to Ferguson during all of this though.

EASY. Don't steal cigars and assalt police officers.
#10: Kurt Kowalczyk (bahabro) on Aug 17, 2014
hahahaha..no way I'm going anywhere near Ferguson... a joke. and a lil poke at the church-goers(though I am quite religious)....about time they imposed a curfew finally! anyone out after dark out that way oughta be arrested....

Yeah, Nixon was way too slow to impose that in my opinion. Have a friend that lives a block from the burned out QT. What a mess.
#12: Kristen Vognild (kristen) on Aug 18, 2014
My sister lives in Maryland Heights, the next town over from Ferguson. My twin brother lives in the opposite corner, I think. They were in Nashville for the beginning of the mess, thankfully.

I live in Maryland Heights as well...Hazelwood is in between the two. but yeah, it's pretty close. lucky they were away! the whole thing is pretty isolated to a small area though. there are about 3 streets I wouldn't drive down...
#14: Joe (infrapinklizzard) on Apr 28, 2019 [HINT]
After Line Logic
Edge Logic 5 c20 = r1-3, r15 white
EL 5 r16 = c18 w
LL
Distant EL 2 r1 (vs r3) = c17-19 w
LL
EL 2 r2 = c13-14, c18-19 w
LL leaves a 4x6 rectangle of unknowns
Internal EL 3 c11 = r9 w (it would make a block of 1 in either c10 or c12)
LL to finish.

edit: Kurt's way also works

Hard to see and hard to do. I did have to guess 3 times.
