The two in r3 forces the 2 in r4. I don't think it is deep...

no guessing, no deep look-ahead. didn't track the solve and I'm at work, so I'm not gonna get specific. iel limits the 5's and the 4 in the bottom 2 r's to a range(so to not violate the 2 max in r18)...ll...then some "one must be, but not both" down in the lower left that ends up placing both 2's in r18....lots of ll... and then you come to where I think Tom sgusa is referring to with his hint, but his way is unnecessary. el places a dot (r9c19?-somewhere around there. like I said, I didn't track the solve at the time). ll finishes.

fuel has a good tune called "falls on me"...doubt that's what you're looking for, but give it a listen.

yippee!!! Thank you!

I re-solved this puzz and you need the 2nd 2 in R3 to force the 2 in r4 right of C15. The upper right corner will not solve without this step. It is the only way to finish it. It isn't deep lookahead. Lots of other examples of EL and IEL. No smile logic" (of which I am dubious (educated guessing)..

No idea. Extremely tough puzzle with lots of guessing needed on my part.

Found to be solvable with moderate lookahead by blurglecruncheon.

Sort-of conglomerating the solutions above:

Edge logic and noting how R18 needs to be filled gets the 4 in R19 at C3-5 and the 5 at C13-16. We can also see C6 has a lot of dots or C7 would have >3 -- in particular C6 has R1-7 and R15-20 free.

Then if C2R19 is black we get a contradiction in the bottom left. R17-20 forms the 4 in C5 with dots to the right, but that creates a contradiction in R4.

I then needed edge logic on the 3 in C19 with all but the upper right solved.
