As I found this one ready-made for pbn puzzles, it may belong to somebody else (and you may have seen it also).#2: Jan Wolter (jan) on Aug 1, 2005
My apologies if it's the case.
Nice image.#3: Martial (marso) on Nov 3, 2007
But what do you mean "ready-made for pbn"? I assume you just mean that you found the image. But if this is a pbn puzzle from some book or magazine, then it is probably copyrighted by someone.
I've been allowing (and even entering myself) images of copyrighted characters, like Snoopy or the Cat in the Hat and trademarked images like corporate logos. I feel that is pretty harmless, though probably technically illegal.
I'm also generally OK with taking a image that was not a puzzle and turning it into a puzzle. People do this a lot with icon images, which tend to be about the right size for a puzzle. Ideally, you'd make sure the original image was free of copyright restrictions, but typically you are going to have to do some adaptation of the image before you're done.
What I would not be OK with would be taking a published PBN puzzle and simply entering it here. I believe there are actually people who earn their livelihood designing puzzles like these, and swiping their work without permission would not be acceptable.
I would say that drawings, pictures or icons give the basic shape. Resizing and/or reducing the color level generally involve a lot of modifications, and very often the result is quite different from the original. That would make it OK, I guess.#4: Gitte Olesen (granny40) on Nov 30, 2006
I must confess this one comes from a locally published magazine and it underwent only a few modifications.
I have no problem unpublishing it, if you want to be on the safe side.
Legal or not, I think this puzzle is very good. Thank`s.#5: Nancy Snyder (naneki) on Aug 23, 2008
I agree with Jan..If it is already a puzzle by someone else, it shouldn't be published here, even if it is modified (like color to B&W or even resizing it) I know I would not like it if someone took one of my puzzles & published it on another site with or without modification#6: Adam Nielson (monkeyboy) on Jun 13, 2009
First rate image. Very fun.#7: BlackCat (blackcat) on Jan 31, 2013

Hi Martial. As an artist who hopes to make a living with creative work, I've become sensitive about copyright law. If you found this image somewhere else and reproduced it here, you are violating both the rules of this website (read the guidelines for creating puzzles) and US and international law. Nice to be open and apologetic about it, but it's still illegal. Please take this puzzle down from this site. You do plenty of your own that are high quality and fun.#9: Susan (Susan) on May 9, 2017
But please don't let this drive you out of here. We all learn the hard way about a lot of things. I'm pretty new here, but this seems like a very kind and supportive community, you are part of that.#10: Kristen Vognild (kristen) on May 11, 2017
Marso doesn't often comment, but he did at least say up front that it wasn't his own work.
