mmmmm...dessert landscape! yum...is that like chocolate mousse plants and ice cream flowers?#10: Norma Dee (norm0908) on May 5, 2014
at least its your grass you're mowing...granted, I rarely hop on a mower and I'm getting paid and all, but try 140 acres of grass to mow...
Whoever mows that 140 acres is getting paid, but nobody pays you to mow your own unless you are a teen that gets paid by his/her parents to mow the lawn. :)#11: Susan Duncan (medic25733) on May 6, 2014
Don't have to mow rocks and that's what I have in my yard :)#12: Carol Brand (KarylAnn) on May 6, 2014

Thank you Sonja. :)#18: Valerie Mates (valerie) on Feb 7, 2019 [SPOILER]
I read that robot mowers (like a Roomba but for your lawn) are popular in Europe, so I started dreaming of getting one for here at my house. But did a bunch of reading, and, alas, I don't think my lawn is suited to one. Maybe someday when the technology improves.#19: Norma Dee (norm0908) on Feb 7, 2019
Shortly after I got married, we bought a home and were so happy that is had a larger lot that most homes at that time. Happy until it came to mowing the lawn with an old fashioned mower, which I had the pleasure of pushing because my husband couldn't. So much fun in 110 and up temperatures. I had a lovely neighbor who would bring me iced tea when she saw me.#20: Valerie Mates (valerie) on Jan 4, 2020 [SPOILER]
#21: Norma Dee (norm0908) on Jan 4, 2020I recently ran across this picture that Jan drew:![]()
We were at a restaurant that gives kids paper and crayons. Our youngest kid, Corbin, who has autism and used to be fascinated by lawnmowing, would always ask Jan to draw a picture of "Daddy mowing." So Jan drew this. Corbin seems to have embellished it with additional orange and purple decorations beyond what Jan drew.
I am not sure that Jan wanted this image saved for posterity. But Norma's puzzle and Jan's drawing of himself mowing remind me of each other, so I figured I would share.
I'm so glad you shared, Valerie. It's memories like this this that we treasure as we grow older.#22: Teresa K (fasstar) on Jan 5, 2020
Aw, what a sweet memory. Thanks for sharing it with us, Valerie.#23: Jota (jota) on Jan 6, 2020
