It's cool looking, but I have no idea what it is. :-(

It's supposed to be a stinger from a scorpion. An Ovipositor in the title is part of an insect's anatomy that allows the insect to carefully place eggs in certain hard to get to spots. Ovipositors are sometimes mistaken for stingers.

Is it bad that when I hear "ovipositor" I think of Facehuggers from Alien?
#8: Synthia McBride (synthia) on May 14, 2014
No, Kristen, it is not bad, it is true. :)

The stingers of bees and wasps are actually evolved from ovipositors. This is not the case with scorpions (who actually bear live young).

This is a fun puzzle doing all the black first.
