My sister and I agree that the way figure skating is done at the Olympics should be totally revamped and scored similar to gymnastics. Let them compete separately in jumps, spins, etc. and win individual medals for those events. Then do a program to music combining all the skills. And be able to win a medal for all around. The swimmers can win so many medals they need a fork lift to carry them. Figure skaters work just as hard for a single medal. Not fair.

i agree it has to be revamped..to this day i would like anyone to tell me how nancy kerrigan didn't get the gold medal in 1994. after the short program she was leading. then her and oksana baiul tied in the free skate and nancy wound up with the silver medal :/

I thought they had revamped the scoring after the fiasco in Salt Lake City (when one of the judges admitted to being pressured to vote a certain way) - but then again, I haven't really paid that much attention in the last few years.

Either way, I'm rooting for Igor all the way! What a true Olympian! :)

They did change the way figure skating is scored. But what I would like to see is for skaters to be able to earn more than one medal with the events run as they are in gymnastics where they participate in one skill at a time. At one point nothing but jumps, then proceed to, say, spins and so on, so that a skater could take home individual medals for each skill they enter finishing with a choreographed program. It will never happen, of course, but it would be nice if they could have the chance to earn more that one medal.

Yes, Heather, Igor definitely has the spirit and the desire.

I agree that it should be scored more like gymnastics. They work so hard, and everything rides on just 2 performances, which also take artistry and choreography into account, rather than simple athleticism.

I give this puzzle a '10'
