Biellmann spin?

I vividly remember the first time I saw Denise Biellmann on TV while she performed this spin. I wondered if her blade would cut her hands.

You did a great job of illustrating my least favorite move in all of figure skating. The was a group that tried to get it outlawed but, obviously, didn't succeed.

I looked this spin up in Wiki. It states that many skaters do cut their hands. A variation is that the skater grabs the boot instead of the blade. I can see skaters using some sort of hand guard, that cannot be detected, in the future. Nice image.

i don't think it's a very attractive move..there are much more moves that are graceful :)

It's more of a show-off move. "Look how flexible I am and how fast I can spin!"
