Uncle Wiki tells us that there is some controversy over who wrote it. Some think Clement Clarke Moore wrote it and there are some who think a Major Livingston wrote it. See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Visit_from_St._Nicholas

Sang this in high school until sick of it. :) Although, I didn't sing it because I played the piano and had to rehearse all the parts. Still have it popping up in my brain every now and then. :(
