I'm just so happy to hear from her uncle Sensei. Sarah is a wonderful friend and was instrumental in being supportive and happy for Niki and I when we announced that we were having Destyny,as were you,Jota,Kristen,and many others here. I am grateful to have so many friends from all over the world. Boy to I ever sound mushy lol,but I am sincere.:):)

oh Aldege, you are sounding mushy, but you have a great family and all of use puzzle people and have much to celebrate. I have tried a few puzzles, but it takes me forever to do one now. Please give Niki and the kids a hug from me. Merry Christmas!

side note: why do ppl have such a hard time with color logic? had to take extra care checking out what green can go where, but that was the fun of it...wouldn't call it "brain-busting"(as it is rated) by any means. cmon, it solved with regular logic...

Very tough puzzle for me. I did a great deal of guessing. When done, I can see 2 faces and that's it.

Has anybody heard from Aldege? I wonder how he and his family are doing.

I was wondering why the "Aldege's Let's Go Have A Baby Adventure" puzzle turns up so often in the Featured Puzzles list. I figured it must be a series with a zillion puzzles. But I did a search and if I counted right it's only five puzzles. They must all have good ratings!

I think it's that there are so few "brain-busting" puzzles with high enough ratings to be listed. :)

I finally tried solving this puzzle instead of just commenting on it. I vote with Kurt that it is more fussily detail-oriented than hard.

Also, I hope Kurt is okay. He hasn't been on here in months.

Kristen - I looked up how many puzzles currently qualify to be featured in each category. It is:

Easy: 9,224
Intermediate: 3,970
Hard: 1,003
Brain-Busting: 65

So I was going to say that Al's five puzzles are almost 10% of the Brain Busting puzzles. But then I looked up what category the five "Let's Go Have A Baby Adventure" puzzles are in.

Two puzzles are indeed Brain-Busting (23246 and 23290). But two are easy (23348 and 23575), and one has not been rated by enough people to qualify as a Featured Puzzle, but it would be Easy if it was featured (puzzle 23275).

You wanted to hear all that. Right?

So, my current theory is that the "Aldege's Let's Go Have A Baby Adventure" puzzles turn up exactly as often as all the other puzzles do, but they have an eye-catching name that makes me notice them in the list more often than the other puzzles, so it feels like they are featured more often than they actually are.

I feel like I see the same 6 or so puzzles all the time, in the Brain-Busting category :D

Well, if there are 65 Brain-Busting puzzles that qualify to be on the front page, and if 60-ish puzzles are chosen each month in that category, then, yes, on average each of the 65 puzzles should show up about once a month. And since they are chosen at random, some of them are going to get picked a lot.

Hm. I thought about lowering the quality requirement for Brain-Busting puzzles, to increase the size of the pool, but then I looked at the database to see if that would help, but it actually doesn't add even a single puzzle to the pool. So it looks like it's going to be endless repetition in the Brain-Busting category until people create more of them.

What an amazing puzzle! Every time I thought I had no more options left, I suddenly discovered another box I could tick. The image isn't really very clear to me, but the solve was absolutely lovely. Thanks a lot for making a good size, brain-busting line and colour logic puzzle!
