Found to be solvable with moderate lookahead by infrapinklizzard.

Edge logic on the 5 in c30 makes r26-30 white.
Then el on the 7 in r30 makes c27-29 white.
Lots of line logic.

Then el on the bottom 3 in c17: if it's in r13-15, then there'll be a conflict in c18 so c17r15 must be white.
Then ll to finish.

Nice picture and solve.

Well, I did have to guess a couple of times, but I'm glad I kept on. This is a wonderful illustration to the story. And the expectant one is awesome.
