Good likeness. Very exotic. Excellent job.
#2: Thomas Genuine (Genuine) on Oct 25, 2013 [SPOILER]
She was the first painter woman in the modern ages.
Previously of her worked a German "paintress" in the 18th century.

Berthe Morisot of France and American Mary Cassatt are famous impressionists who worked with Degas, Manet, Monet, and the like and were exhibited with them in the late nineteenth century. Cassatt for one worked well into the twentieth century, while another famous American artist Georgia O'Keeffe, a near-contemporary of Kahlo, was known in the art world by the 1920s. Canadian Emily Carr was an important 19th and 20th century artist known in North America and Europe. Wikipedia notes that Kahlo's work was not recognized until the 1970s, several decades after her death.

Thank you so much for the info, Lollipop. Wikipedia has a very impressive list of female artists.

Yes, I looked them up. The ones I was noting for Thomas were just those I could recall off the top of my head, but I checked with Uncle Wiki to make sure I had my dates right. First modern age painter woman, indeed. Not.

Thanks Lollipop, I've just finished an essay on the beginings of modern art in Russia and there were many female artists, Natalia Goncharova, Luibov Popova, Varvara Stepanova, Alexandra Exter... Kahlo is definately significant in the history of art by women, but no where near the first I'm afraid, Thomas. :)

Also, I should have included an explanation of the title in the description. People who aren't Frida-philes might not be aware that that is how Surrealist poet (or writer?) Andre Breton described her.

#14: Kristen Vognild (Kristen) on Nov 2, 2013 [SPOILER]
Once I'd finished the red flowers and outline of her face, I thought it might turn out to be Frida. He eyebrow(s) clinched it for me. :)
#15: jewel crown (jewel) on Jul 15, 2016
Excellent! The eyebrows gave it away!
