One of the guards of the Wicked Witch of the West in The Wizard of Oz movie.

We're currently reading the original Wizard of Oz book as a bedtime story. It's quite different than the movie. We're about 3/4 through and the witch is dead and Dorothy is in command of the flying monkeys; and according to the chapter titles, the fighting trees are yet to come.

Fun solve.

I knew it looked familiar, but couldn't place it. Good one.

The second Oz book is pretty good too, though more than a little weird (the hero becomes a heroine partway through the book). The later books kind of go down hill, as each book becomes little more than a chance to visit all the old characters and see how they are doing.

The movie "Return to Oz" is mostly based on the 2nd Oz book, The Marvelous Land of Oz. It introduces some great characters, too.
