Nice one. You can almost smell the smoke. So many authors used to indicate the changing of seasons by mentioning the smell of burning leaves.
#3: Jota (JOTA) on Oct 7, 2013
Very nice! Thanks!
#4: Aldege Cholette (aldege) on Oct 7, 2013 [SPOILER]
I still love the smell of leaves in autumn when you rake them in a pile and dive into them. I also love the smell of burning wood now, cause almost everyone here have wood furnaces for heating. Good one Joel Lynn, you can still burn just about anything here in the country.:)

We can't burn leaves unless they are part of a permitted brush burn. I believe that there are too many fires in the woods, people being careless around houses, and just plain pollution issues here. I, for one, do not miss the burning barrels, but I do like the wood smell that Al was talking about. Ahh, Autumn!

Great puzzle. I don't like the smell of burning leaves but love a wood fire. We have one of those wood burning furnaces outside.

Folks burn their trash all he time where I live, since we're outside any city limits. There are occasional burn bans, but it's usually humid enough that nobody has to worry about the fire spreading.

Great puzzle, Joel! Takes me back in time when our family lived so far out in the country - we didn't even have our own post office! We had a wood-burning stove, a burn barrel, & a brush pile... hard to believe that was over 30 years ago! Thx for the memories & your creativity!

Thanks, Beth, glad you enjoyed it!

I liked walking and listening to the crunch.

I'm with Aldege. Piling them up and jumping into them is way more fun than bagging or burning them.
