Puzzle Description:
"Pagophagia is a form of the disorder pica involving the compulsive consumption of ice or iced drinks." (source: Wikipedia). I had been consuming copious amounts of ice - easily a gallon each day. First thing in the morning, on the bus ride to work, throughout the day while doing data entry, before dinner, during dinner, after dinner. I googled ice-eating and found a link between that and iron-deficiency anemia. Sure enough, that was what came back on my blood test results.

Still learning and loving it. Great puzzle. I feel like I could stick a spoon in and get some ice.#2: annalivia (annalivia) on Sep 24, 2013
interesting! super puzzle!#3: Kristen Vognild (kristen) on Sep 24, 2013 [SPOILER]
I thought it might be a disgust of the texture of gelatin, which was all you were allowed to eat in the hospital. :)#4: Aldege Cholette (aldege) on Sep 24, 2013 [SPOILER]
I have anemia, but I only chew on ice when it's left at the bottom of a glass. Normally, I drink water at room temperature.
Fantastic image Linda,it looks like you cut those copious amounts of ice cubes with a coping saw, lol. Do you have to take iron supplements by injection?#5: Susan Duncan (medic25733) on Sep 24, 2013
Fabulous puzzle Linda. I also have iron deficiency anemia but have never had the impulse to eat ice. Maybe not as bad as yours.#6: Linda Martin (ilovethispuzzle123) on Sep 24, 2013
thank you everyone for solving my puzzle and for the comments. I really appreciate it!#7: Aldege Cholette (aldege) on Sep 25, 2013
lol @ "disgust of the texture of gelatin" and "coping saw"
@aldege -I had to take thrice daily supplements of ferrous sulfate -if I didn't feel bad enough before, this put me over the top!
Poor girl, are these done by intra-muscular injection?,if so you won't be pleased with the brown marks on your body either, but they will go away with time.:)#8: Linda Martin (ilovethispuzzle123) on Sep 26, 2013
hi aldege - no injections - pills...the nausea of which I will never, ever forget...#9: Beth Baumgartner (valleygirl2) on Sep 26, 2013
