Ditto Alison. It's really great. And so much fun it actually crackles!
#5: Kurt Kowalczyk (bahabro) on Jun 15, 2013
thanks T and N! very punny, Norma :)

oh, I don't know about that one, Thomas...Kristen's the resident portrait expert. And I remember her doing a fantastic Mt Rushmore already(but not the LP art version). I could give it a try though....we'll see ;)

Smoke on the Water has one of the best-recognized bass riffs, but I know Ian Gillan better as Jesus in the original recording of Jesus Christ Superstar. :)

As for the Mt. Rushmore puzzle, I don't want to give the number, since discovering what it is is half the fun of solving. Maybe it'll turn up on the home page one of these days...

I may give it a go another day, Thomas....I started to try to make it, but to give the art justice, the puzzle would have to be huge....checking after creating only 3 faces, it seems too difficult to make it solvable without losing the integrity of the image. I'd say that it'd take days and days of creating and tweaking to do it, so don't hold your breath in anticipation of your request.... as a point of reference, this lil 30x took 7 tries of tweaking and solving, etc to end up at the final puzzle that was published and you solved. The original image changed quite a bit in the meantime. To get the best version that I can do of what you want, multiply that effort by about 100....

Congratulations and thank you, Kurt. I am grateful to you and to all those who create these puzzles. I thought I'd finish all of your puzzles in honour of your 450th, but I just checked and I've solved them all, so thanks again.
#9: Kurt Kowalczyk (bahabro) on Jun 15, 2013
hahaha! thanks, Lollipop! sorry about the bad ones... I get a "keeper" about 1 in 10....hahahaha! really though, I'd say the reason we make em is because of people like you that enjoy and appreciate them so much. Thanks again, L! :)

No worries, Al....I love your puzzles!

Bit of edge logic needed for this one.

All of the red can be solved right away and then a small amount of the black with LL.

After that, take a look at the 5 in C1 and apply a little edge logic. This will blank out R1-4 and R29 in C1. More line logic.

Next, direct your attention to R29. Some edge logic on the 4 will blank out C11 and C16 on that row.

The rest can be solved entirely with LL.

Found to be solvable with moderate lookahead by gator.

I'm glad I stuck with this one. I made a couple of starts earlier on, but didn't have the patience to get through with it, and it's not super-super hard, just tricky enough. And, an excellent image. Well done, mate.
