Puzzle Description:

I was craving for a nice tabouli salad,so Niki went out and got the necessary ingredients. When I started chopping the parsley,I wondered what sort of parsley is this cause it had a different smell and taste. Turns out,she picked a bunch of cilantro instead. I'll eat it,but it's not the taste I was longing for.

Bleah. Some people love cilantro, but I am not one of those people.

I can't say I'm too fond of it either Kristen.:)

Is Niki having cravings? If so, you might better learn to like cilantro.
#4: Jan Wolter (jan) on May 24, 2013 [SPOILER]
I like your puzzle. I also like cilantro. Though I once accidentally bought parsley when I wanted cilantro, so I know how it is.

That was fun to solve. Thanks.

yep, fun color logic solve, Al!

Cilantro does have a rather pungent taste and for many it's an acquired taste. But it really adds zest to certain Mexican foods. I like your salad. Makes me want one.

sorry about your salad but good solve on your puzzle aldege :)

nice solve, Pal

It seems that about half the population LOVES cilantro, and to the other half (like me) it tastes like soap.

Even if you love it, in the wrong recipe it can still be jarring.

And does no one call it coriander anymore? Is it like centigrade vs. Celsius (Celsius won out, even though it was still called centigrade in the late 70s), or do some countries still call it coriander?

I loved this solve. It turned out much easier than i thought it was going to with all the small numbers.

Thx everyone, the salad actually turned out not too bad. I still prefer it with parsley, but I have to admit that the next day after the raspberry vinaigrette had a chance to soak in,it's tasting a lot better. For those of you who might be interested, here are the ingredients.:)

2 cups of couscous
1 cup of shredded parsley(or coriander)
1 bud of chopped garlic
2 diced tomatoes
2 diced onions
1/2 bottle of raspberry vinaigrette,or (oil and vinegar)

My deeply trained reflex to all lists of ingredients is to parse them for my family's food allergies. Couscous = gluten. 4/5 of my family can't eat it. Garlic, tomatoes, onions, 1/5 of the family can't eat each of those. So I guess I'll have to pass on the salad, but the puzzle sure was tasty.

Lovin' the new home-page, Jan! esp the "featured puzzles"... there are so many good older puzzles that are brought to the user's attention now(without a search, that is). The site's running much smoother, thank you very much!

not sure if you're aware, but the puzzle editor/create page has a bug. for me, anyway. can't create, and the tabs on top and to the left of the grid where the clue numbers would be are all blacked out....

Thx again Jan.:)

The color logic here is really cool and rewarding to solve. Salad is a good subject for nonlinear color stuff ... I saw pretty on with the black (bowl) and the first few green dots that's what it would be, so I knew right away it wouldn't just be random. Well done.

It's neat how the bottom and top (below/above the bowl) are solved completely independently, too.
