re 15: No, David, Mary Had a Little Lamb starts E-D-C-D-E-E-E (in C Major), while Twinkle Twinkle / Baa Baa Black Sheep both start C-C-G-G-A-A-G (again in C Major).
That major 5th (C to G) is actually very difficult for young voices, which is why it's the THE MOST TERRIBLE CHOICE for our alphabet song!
The second reason it's a terrible choice for the alphabet song is that it ends in the middle of a phrase ("W, X, Y and Z..."), so it has to be resolved by the inane phrase "Now I know my ABCs, next time won't you sing with me".
Try singing the alphabet song to Yankee Doodle - it works!
Now to simply change this in every kindergarten classroom in America.
