I recognized the situation in the drawing, but didn't know "bad egg" was the term for that (just a stupid European, I know).

Bad egg is a slang expression that simply means a bad person. I took it a step further to make it sound like the egg had been bad and was being punished. Kind of like when a dog misbehaves and the owner says, "Bad dog!"
