There's a name for these, too but I don't remember it. Kind of in the same league as someone saying "old timer's disease".

They were called Fractured Phrases in my neck of the woods.

"Old timer's disease" is an eggcorn, whereas the closest I can find for these would be catachresis. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catachresis
