if i choose to live my life off of a fictional book, i would at least do it with a better protagonist. like rambo.

Karl, I'm sure that we are all looking forward to your Rambo puzzle. It's unfortunate that we don't have personal message options here, we should have a chat. Your statement that the Bible is a fictional book (whether you choose to believe in its teachings or not) tells me that you are grossly ill-informed.

There is a place to chat, but I'm betting karl is too chicken to chat.

Beautiful! He has certainly risen! Halleliah!
He does bear a resemblence to Aldege.
The Bible is a book of faith, but has a lot of historical truths in it that can be proven by historians, such as Josephus. The bible is also the basis for 2 religions in this world, both of which have endured for a very long time. It does not teach us to do anything bad, but only good things that make our lives better.

Very nice image. I thought it was you at first too Aldege because I was doing the mustache and beard...

Nice to see comments from those who can say, "He is risen indeed!"

I guess he does have a bit more hair on top than Aldege!

I stumbled onto puzzle 3408 when it was new back in 2008 and was part of a very long discussion of a religious nature. This puzzle (21622) took me 12 years to also stumble onto but is worth a few brief retroactive replies.

Scott #8, Karl is not at all "grossly misinformed" about the historical accuracy of the bible. It is indeed primarily a work of fiction, particularly given all of the heavy editing it endured for much of its existence, all of it to satisfy the political whims of those with the authority to make those edits. While many of the peoples did exist at the time, and many of the places did then and still do, the events described are highly mythologized.

Jennifer #14, same reply as to Scott. In addition, being the basis for long-lasting religions may be a testament to the faith of the billions of believers who have kept those religions alive for centuries, but it in no way supports the argument of historical accuracy. As to it allegedly not teaching us to do anything bad, you must not be familiar with the Old Testament and the many behaviors that god endorses which would be considered criminal or taboo in a civil society. Genocide, rape, slavery, incest, .... god is okay with all of those and many more.
