Here's a limerick I always enjoyed:

A tutor who tooted the flute
Tried to tutor two tooters to toot.
Said the two to the tutor,
"Is it harder to toot,
Or to tutor two tooters to toot?"

Awesome Joel! Do you still play?
Thanks for both the puzzle and the limerick!

Thanks, and yw, Jota!
I still have my flute, but haven't played it in a very long time.

Love you puzzle. Love your limerick. Did you play in a band, orchestra, both or??? As soon as I solved it I knew that you knew something about the flute because those who don't always draw both the hands as being on the same side of the flute. lol

Very cool Joel, there is nothing better than playing a musical instrument in a band or orchestra.:)

Thanks, Norma, Travis, ans Aldege.

Norma, I played in band, orchestra, wind ensembles, marching band, pit orchestra for musicals, and gave a solo half-concert. I took lessons for about 12 years through public school, the prep department of a music conservatory, and in college. And after all that, I ended up in a career in the government as a map-maker. While I didn't pursue music as a career, I learned a lot about performing, and that knowing the material well is invaluable in conquering stage fright for any kind of presentation.

In a small town, once they know you play piano and can read music, you are enlisted to play any instrument they need, sing in ensembles, accompany other ensembles and solos, play solos, etc. etc. One time I had to sing the absent tenor's part of the boy's quartet while accompanying them on the piano. Continued music in college, but didn't pursue a career in music either.

I played clarinet through middle school, high school, and college. I sang alto in the youth choir at church, because I could read music, so I didn't know I was actually a soprano until I auditioned for the university chorale and was told I was a soprano. Now I generally sing 2nd soprano in a choir, except when there aren't enough altos and at Christmas time, because I'm so used to the alto parts in all the Christmas carols.

Yep, I figured this would end up as a double post, since I clicked "post" and it just sat there. I had to click "post" again for it to do anything. :P
