Seems like a friendly, helpful kind of guy. Nice solve. A bit hard.
#2: Jota (jota) on Feb 5, 2013
I loved solving this! Thanks!
#3: Aldege Cholette (aldege) on Feb 5, 2013
Thx Norma and Jota. Mr. Lopart is more stubborn than anything else. He insists that he is an expert on everything, but he usually screw things up.:)
#4: BlackCat (blackcat) on Feb 5, 2013
Did alot of guessing on this one.
#5: Kurt Kowalczyk (bahabro) on Feb 5, 2013
he looks like my high school mechanical/architectural drawing teacher..... lol
#6: Aldege Cholette (aldege) on Feb 6, 2013
Thx Blackcat, how is that possible when it's solvable by line and colour logic only?
#7: Aldege Cholette (aldege) on Feb 6, 2013
No wonder your so smart Kurt, lol.:)
#8: Norma Dee (norm0908) on Feb 6, 2013
Actually, I did some guessing, too.
#9: Aldege Cholette (aldege) on Feb 6, 2013
Because I'm not a solver I don't understand why there would be guessing when it says it's solvable with line and colour logic only. What am I missing? I thought that when the computer says that, there should be no guessing.
#10: Niki Cholette (Niki420) on Feb 6, 2013
This is definitely solvable without guessing. I'm thinking the fact they said they did some guessing doesn't mean that you HAVE to guess to solve it, just that they did some guessing.
#11: Norma Dee (norm0908) on Feb 6, 2013
I kind of thought that, too Aldege. But what happens sometimes, even when the computer says there should be no guessing, the purple arrow stops giving hints and says there are no more available. At that point a solver has to resort to the more advanced solving techniques. Some solvers enjoy this extra challenge, some don't. That's why I always solve my own before posting so that if the purple arrow runs out of hints, I go back and tweak the puzzle a bit.

The computer doesn't say there should be no guessing. It says that it is definitely line/colour logic solvable. Just because the purple arrow doesn't know colour logic doesn't mean that there is guessing. The helper is much smarter than that little purple arrow. Tweaking the puzzles so that they are all 100% LLS is ok but I like using colour logic too.

I assume we all use color logic, otherwise we wouldn't be able to finish a lot of puzzles. I believe I remember reading in one of Jan's comments that the purple arrow wasn't always reliable. If you have been solving pbn puzzles for a very, very long time, sometimes just by looking at what you have filled in and the configuration of the numbers that are left, you can make a very "logical" guess that works. Not all the time, of course, but often enough.

Very challenging color logic. But fun!

I made a puzzle that the helper said was line logic solvable. But I had a really hard time solving it myself. Even gator had a tough time solving it. Sometimes you have to hunt really hard for each clue. As long as its not too hard, I don't mind. Rather than constantly hunt for pixel clues, on this one I used a lot of edge logic, even though it wasn't required.
#15: Niki Cholette (Niki420) on Feb 7, 2013
There was 2 or 3 times where I guess I could've guessed but I was determined to finish it without guessing, so I persisted and each time I found some colour logic that wasn't obvious.
#16: Norma Dee (norm0908) on Feb 7, 2013
It's so great that you persisted and found the solution. I guess my eyes were tired and I missed something, but now you have given me the courage and determination to try it again. Thank you.
#17: Norma Dee (norm0908) on Feb 7, 2013
Thanks, to Niki's comment #15 I tried it again and got it right. I didn't look hard enough the first time.
#18: Aldege Cholette (aldege) on Feb 8, 2013
Norma when I try to solve puzzles I give up real quick unless they are very easy. Even then I use the L key a lot cause I'm to lazy to think, lol. I hope Niki's comments didn't offend you. She gets real defensive of her extremely handsome, big footed husband.lol.:)
#19: Norma Dee (norm0908) on Feb 8, 2013
After I kind of gave up and guessed I felt like a dork because everybody else had solved it without problems and because of her remarks I tried it again and found the solution without guessing. So, thanks to her I no longer feel like a dork. For now, anyway. And it's really great that she jumps to your defense. True love.:)
#20: Niki Cholette (Niki420) on Feb 8, 2013
Lol Norma, I really didn't mean to offend you. Without hearing what tone someone is using its easier to take it the wrong way. I was mainly trying to assure him that it didn't need guessing. I did the colour first and I remember finishing the one area of blue on the bottom left side, and there was I think 2 other spots where advanced colour logic (or at least colour logic that wasn't obvious to me)was needed there to be no guessing for me. I'm glad you went back and were able to do it without guessing.
#21: Norma Dee (norm0908) on Feb 8, 2013
No offence taken I assure you. I was upset with myself because I didn't see the solution when everyone else did. Will you be posting Christmas pictures of your beautiful daughter? We hope.
#22: Aldege Cholette (aldege) on Feb 8, 2013
Yes auntie Norma,we have been a little slow with posting stuff lately, but I will try to get Niki to post some soon.:)
