why would only canadians know what a zamboni is?

Karl, thanks for your answer. Because it is a bad enough rendering of a zamboni on a small grid that I presumed only a hockey fan would get it. Taking the huge leap of generalizations, all Canadians are hockey fans. It might be recognizable enough.

...and you didn't call it "Only a Canadian will get this???"

David is right,you didn't say only a Canadian,and you also didn't say all Canadians. I'm a big hockey fan,and a Canadian,and I didn't see it at first. It must be a retro-50's era zamboni. At first I thought it was one of our jet fighter planes cause our Air Force is so up to date,or perhaps a garbage disposal truck from New Brunswick,lol. Now I see it's a pretty cool depiction of a zamboni,good one Tom K.:)

Hah, a "fighter" plane - the man on the right is turning the propeller by hand, to wind up the rubber band. I had no trouble recognizing the Zamboni; even though I initially expected the image to be a Tim Hortons coffee cup.

I learned all about Zambonis from reading Peanuts as a kid.

I thought it was some kind of giant acorn symbol. Did have to guess once.
