Puzzle Description:
#1: Kurt Kowalczyk (bahabro) on Jan 13, 2013
good solve! got no idea...#2: Ruby Hammer (rubyqhammer) on Jan 13, 2013 [SPOILER]
kinda looks like a caterpillar...perhaps it's Alice in wonderland? Or maybe medusa...although mythology doesn't qualify as a fairy tale in my mind. I also see a maze which could be any number of stories. I guess I am just stabbing in the dark.#3: John Macdonald (perlwolf) on Jan 13, 2013 [SPOILER]
Is it the back side of Rapunzel's tower in the forest?#4: Norma Dee (norm0908) on Jan 13, 2013
Ditto Kurt. Looks like it might be a portal to somewhere.#5: Minnie Fuerstnau (mini) on Jan 14, 2013 [SPOILER]
One arm and hand of Jack climbing the beanstalk?#6: Joel Lynn (furface1) on Jan 14, 2013 [SPOILER]
I'm with John - Rapunzel!#7: Claudia (clau_bolson) on Jan 14, 2013
I can see nothing there.#8: Ruby Hammer (rubyqhammer) on Jan 14, 2013
ooh...the tower from sleeping beauty? Covered in vines.#9: Kurt Kowalczyk (bahabro) on Jan 14, 2013 [SPOILER]
yeah, looks like a slit of a window in a vine-covered brick wall.....Rapunzel sounds good. first glance and it looks like a keyhole, but that doesn't make sense. easy to see the brick wall now#10: Joel Lynn (furface1) on Jan 14, 2013 [SPOILER]
I think it's Rapunzel's hair hanging out the tower window.#11: Joe (infrapinklizzard) on Jan 14, 2013 [SPOILER]
Yes, it's Rapunzel's hair hanging out a stone tower's window. The stone wall with window was pretty clear until I put Rapunzel in, but what are ya gonna do?#12: Tom King (sgusa) on Jan 15, 2013
Fun solve, Joe!#13: Kristen Vognild (kristen) on Jan 18, 2013 [SPOILER]
Either Rapunzel's hair, or Jack & the Inappropriately-Shaped Beanstalk. ;)#14: Joe (infrapinklizzard) on Jan 19, 2013 [SPOILER]
No, Kristen, that thing on the top is the head...#15: Teresa K (fasstar) on Jan 20, 2013
nevermind.
I can't stop laughing. Kristen and Joe, you crack me up. Fun puzzle in so many ways. :-D#16: Joe (infrapinklizzard) on Jan 22, 2013 [SPOILER]
Thanks, everyone.#17: Jill Tallmer (Yidl) on Dec 11, 2018
Ruby has a good point, Rapunzel's tower didn't have vines - why would the hair be needed otherwise? Well, maybe these ivy vines were anemic and ripped out easily. Yeah, that's it.

What a relief to see that others wrestled with identifying this image. Usually I stare and stare and can't make anything out, only to open the comments section and see that everyone else figured it out in a snap.
