Puzzle Description:

hope you can guess this one....

ET

E. T. I'm sure glad to be getting some movies I've heard of. When Tom King does them, I don't know the movie even after someone tells me. I think that's because I'm 72 years old and don't go to current movies. I remember the oldies.
#3: Jennifer McMahon (kalamalama) on Jan 2, 2013
Sorry, Tom. I must have been posting my comment at the same time you were posting yours. Just a hint, Tom, tell us the names of your movies. Don't make this old lady guess for 2 months. I keep going back to see if someone has guessed, so at least I know what the movie is, even if I've never heard of it.

thanks, N....too itty bitty. it'd have made a really good larger puzzle, I think.

Jennifer, thanks for the input. I could hide a spoiler with the title. Usually, I start providing clues on the 2nd day, and it solves within 3 days.

Initially, almost all were from the AFI Top 100 Movies All Time http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AFI's_100_Years...100_Movies

Bugaboo figured this out, so I starting throwing some curveballs. I always figured it was my bad art rather than obscurity of the film.

El-li-ott...

It's fun to note that ET was voiced by an old woman who had chain smoked all her life, which gave ET his raspy voice.

"The major voice work for E.T. was performed by Pat Welsh, an elderly woman who lived in Marin County, California. Welsh smoked two packets of cigarettes a day, which gave her voice a quality that sound effects creator Ben Burtt liked. She spent nine-and-a-half hours recording her part, and was paid $380 by Burtt for her services.[8] Burtt also recorded 16 other people and various animals to create E.T.'s "voice". These included Spielberg; Debra Winger; Burtt's sleeping wife, who had a cold; a burp from his USC film professor; and raccoons, sea otters, and horses."

Great puzzle, Kurt. I like the blots and the fact that I could recognize the image.

That's so interesting, Kristen.

That reminds me of a joke:

A woman walks up to an old man sitting in a chair on his porch.

"I couldn't help but notice how happy you look," she said. "What's your secret for a long, happy life?"

"I smoke three packs a day, drink a case of beer, eat fatty foods, and never, ever exercise," he replied.

"Wow, that's amazing," she said, "How old are you?"

"Twenty-six."

I recognized the image immediately. I'm glad you went back and blotted it, because it made it just difficult enough to be fun.

Excellent image. What was the challenge?
