This is the first puzzle I've done in the New Year. I don't recognize your name Jessie, so welcome to the site. We have a lot of fun here, creating and solving puzzles and making new friends.#2: Kurt Kowalczyk (bahabro) on Jan 1, 2013
I'm not very good at creating, myself. If anyone has suggestions for Jessie, I'll leave it to them. I think the quality of all puzzles are great, in that someone tried.
as per this puzzle...avoid symmetry. it makes for a dull solve. which the creator may or may not realize, as she has 3 solves and 3 created puzzles. as far as we know, the only 3 she solved were her own....I give credit for the idea..but I bet it was a simple image made first then a title after. Jessie, pls my only advise is to pls make it interesting. solve your own puzzle first before publishing....if you don't enjoy the solve, or it has no other inherent value, then don't publish. I publish lots of bad puzzles, and I know it. but even those have at least some value.....a guessing game, or a good image but bad solve, bad image but fun solve, or answer to a challenge. tell ya what.... bad image that gets others involved in a game is awesome! it offers a community atmosphere...do what you do and enjoy it! but make it fun for others too#3: Lollipop (lollipop) on Jan 1, 2013
Jessie, you might want to read the Create Puzzles link on the left of the puzzle screen. The section Drawing the Picture has tips on what to avoid when creating a puzzle and how to enhance a puzzle for the enjoyment of solvers.#4: Tom Siebert (tsiebert) on Jan 1, 2013
Also, you can hover your mouse over the puzzle names to find a menu that includes Peek at Solution. If you select and look at some of the puzzles that have a higher quality rating you will see what solvers have found most enjoyable.
And by all means, do NOT do an American flag. They've been done to death.#5: Teresa K (fasstar) on Jan 2, 2013
On the plus side, there's enough white to make it somewhat interesting to solve. As designs go, it is pretty and small (thank goodness). And I do like the title.#6: Norma Dee (norm0908) on Jan 2, 2013
The best advice I have is to solve lots of puzzles, so you get to know from your own experience what makes a puzzle fun to solve. We all begin somewhere, and this is a good beginning.
Whatever you do don't give up. The more puzzles you make the better you will get. Since your palm tree is better than this one, you are improving already!
