Don't forget to wash your hands? Very pretty towel. All my towels are just plain old serviceable towels.

Mama said, "Don't forget to wash your hands... but don't use the guest towel." As an adult, when I go to visit Mom, I hear her say, "The guest towel is for you, Dear."

This is one that her Mother embroidered for her almost 100 years ago. My grandmother taught me how to embroider, and crochet. I think of her with great affection and gratitude whenever I do needlework.

Before TV and women going to work, there were sewing and quilting bees where a lot of beautiful work was created. So much has fallen by the wayside. When you watch PBS you see one woman creating a quilt with a complicated sewing machine. Beautiful, but not the same. Or on an antique show they will display objects with these tiny, perfectly spaced stitches.
