I had no idea what it was until the final few spots, and then I needed the description because I haven't been following the news. Thanks for a neat puzzle, and a bit of education, too!
#2: Beth (Shasta) on Dec 29, 2007

Tom you must have had a good Christmas? I was glad mine was over, didn't have my kids home this year :(
#7: Tom La Sota (tomlasota) on Jan 21, 2008
I had all my kids over for Christmas this year! In that short time I became a Guitar Hero Fan.
#8: Nancy Snyder (naneki) on Jan 21, 2008
!!LUCKY!! how many kids do you have? I thought maybe nieboo was an only child :)
#9: Jen (lightvader) on Jan 21, 2008
I became a fan on my brother's birthday, the week before Christmas.
#10: Tom La Sota (tomlasota) on Jan 23, 2008
Nieboo thinks she is the only one that counts, but I have another older daughter and two grandchildren..
#11: Nancy Snyder (naneki) on Jan 23, 2008
I have 2 grandsons 3 & 10 years old..isn't having grandkids the greatest thing in the world!
#12: Tom La Sota (tomlasota) on Jan 23, 2008
I love the grandkids. But they are 400 miles away, so it's kinda sad. I want to be a grandpa daily, not just a couple of times a year when I see them.
#13: Gypso (Gypso) on Jan 23, 2008
I hear ya Tom! My only grandson lives in Tokyo. Too far away. :(

But still, Naneki, it is the greatest thing. :D
#14: Nancy Snyder (naneki) on Jan 23, 2008
my grandsons live in Utah a 14 hr drive from me, but only get a chance to see them every now & again..the last time was at my birthday this last summer..it was great I had them for almost 2 weeks.. I LOVED IT!!
#15: Gypso (Gypso) on Jan 23, 2008
I bet that you're the "FUN" Grandma Naneki! :)
#16: Jen (lightvader) on Jan 24, 2008
My Grandparents live downstairs. They have have 7 children and 20-something grandkids.
#17: Nancy Snyder (naneki) on Jan 24, 2008
Jen..sounds like my family. My mom moved in with me when she retired, she has 7 kids (I'm the middle one) and 20 grandkids & 10 great-grandkids.

Gypso..I try to be.. the other grandma doesn't even want to be called grandma (it embarrasses her)
#18: Deana L (FFsWife) on Jan 24, 2008
I'm one of 13 grandchildren on both my mom's side and my dad's side. My grandparents taught me well how a good grandparent acts.... which is good since I now have one of my own. My daughter's (natural) mother doesn't want much to do with the tot (didn't even want her the day they celebrated Thanksgiving because she'd be "underfoot too much"), which works just fine for me. I get her more! The other grandma lives on the same property. We live and hour and a half away. We see more of the kiddo than she does. *sigh* I don't get it!
#19: Nancy Snyder (naneki) on Jan 24, 2008
Some people just don't know what they are missing..they will be sorry one day!
#20: Arduinna (arduinna) on Jan 24, 2008
My mom is 50 and retired. She keeps reminding me how much time she has on her hands. Her hints are less than subtle!
#21: Nancy Snyder (naneki) on Jan 24, 2008
how could she afford to retire at 50! I WISH! I have to work my tail off to make ends meet..of course if I had retired, I would probably sit in front of this computer all day doing puzzles. But it would be nice :)
#22: Nancy Snyder (naneki) on Jan 24, 2008
so arduinna are you going to make her dreams come true any time soon? :)
#23: Arduinna (arduinna) on Jan 25, 2008
She worked in a government job for 20 years and retired from it. Now she's very minimalist. She lives in a trailer and has almost no bills. As for the other question, I hope! I have a very reluctant hubby to convince, but we've been married for 9 years and he's running out of excuses for putting it off!
#24: Nancy Snyder (naneki) on Jan 25, 2008
I would love to see you with a little girl just like you!
#25: Arduinna (arduinna) on Jan 25, 2008
That's sweet, thanks! I'd like a girl too.
#26: Gypso (Gypso) on Jan 26, 2008
Arduinna, give me at least 6 months advanced notice to knit the afghan! :)

Sounds like your strategy is working Deana (gratefully adoring your grandaughter). Nicely done.

All in all, who wouldn't want Naneki and Deana as grandmas???
#27: Nancy Snyder (naneki) on Jan 26, 2008
I have my embarrassed face on now, & same goes to you! thanks
#28: Adam Nielson (monkey) on Jul 19, 2008

#29: Nancy Snyder (naneki) on Jul 19, 2008

#30: Gypso (Gypso) on Jul 20, 2008
