Hey Ryan - Your title is right on the mark - very patriotic I agree! I think you'll probably see a few remarks here suggesting how to make your puzzles a little more challenging but don't be discouraged. I've only been creating puzzles for a couple of months however many of the folks on webpbn have been doing this for many years - their guidance will make you an even better puzzle maker. Yes, flags are definitely an overdone theme. Also, the blue field is much too large (there should be 6 stripes below it). But you do have 13 stripes, so you're already ahead of the pack!
