I did a church in New Orleans that was a rebuild of one destroyed in Hurricane Katrina. Among other design elements to combat future storms, we put operable, reinforced storm shutters on every window. Reinforced the backs with plexi so we could use traditional shutters and used traditional french curve style hold-opens with concealed bars to locking them closed. A WHOLE lot easier to close everything up than screwing plywood and lumber into the frames every time!
