Yikes, so *you* had "that" Dad...
#5: Kurt Kowalczyk (bahabro) on Oct 31, 2012
yep...."that" dad. hell, the neighbors thought it was funny. that, or they grew to expect it. at any rate, he always seemed to get the other dads/male neighbors to come out and have a beer and BS for a while. can't count how many brought him out one.

We had a guy on our street who would take his current youngest kid and carry an empty beer case. At each house he'd say "Trick or Beer!"

(At first I thought the image was a big dog with floppy ears.)

hahaha, marjorie! anybody give him one? too funny!
#8: marjorie rex (mamo) on Oct 31, 2012
Oh yeah! He got a lot of beer and sometimes was offered a mixed drink if the people didn't have beer. Now I think of it, he pulled a wagon so he wouldn't have to carry the case full of bottles!!

not sure about the snowman, but I def can see a weird looking dog with floppy ears as was suggested earlier.... this wasn't about a great image, but more about reminiscing(that looks weird, but I'm pretty sure it's spelled correct). and some people like the 20x's. not you, funny man, but the others can give the 1's and 2's all day, but I got a good image of the past in my head and shared it. miss the ol' guy....

oh! thanks, John. sorry to leave out the ty. my lil pea-brain wanders...lol

You can see the affection you have for your dad and you seem to have some great memories.
#14: Kurt Kowalczyk (bahabro) on Oct 31, 2012
ah..thanks, Norma. he was a good man. I'm a rock. if you can see mine, then the sis's are triple.... a funny story... Pops ate candy all the time. orange slices and licorice. so his grave is littered with candy from the sis's. my mom visited and got all out of shape. for the life of her, she couldn't figure out where all the candy came from. it was magic! hahhaha too funny!

That is so great. You family must have great get togethers. My family was rather stiff and formal and I always envied people who could let their hair down and just have a good 'ol time.

it's always good to see and hang out with fam, N.... not sure how "great" it is on the grand scale...I've only had the one fam and nothing else to compare it to. I like it though. lol

I'm reminded of a story that a friend of mine told me about one of his college buddies. Seems his home was really old and the bathroom really needed remodeling, but every winter they broke down and spent the money they had put aside for the bathroom on a family ski trip. When his friend wrote home he told his parents how much he valued the memories of the great ski trips. He said he very much doubted he would be writing home to say what a great bathroom they had.

Way off topic here, but Norma, your story reminds me of the old saying: No one ever said on his or her deathbed, "I wish I'd spent more time at the office."
