He's certainly a glutton for punishment, isn't he? But, then, many of us are creatures of habit. (Did Carl just give him the bird?)

Unless I'm missing something obvious, there is a lot of edge logic on this one.

After line logic, the puzzle should be about 50% done. Looking at the 4 clue in row 20, if you place it at R20C5-R20C8, then you will quickly find that row 18 will have a contradiction. So R20C5 is a dot. As you move to the right, you will find more contradictions resulting in row 18. This will let us dot in total from R20C5-R20C9. Some more line logic.

Simple edge logic makes R19C6, then R18C4-R18C5 dots. More line logic.

Now look at the 3 clue in column 2. There are only 3 ways to fill this in, but look at how column 3 is affected. The 2 clue in column 3 will either have to be at R10C3-R11C3 or R13C3-R14C3. So R15C3-R16C3 have to be dots.

Next if you try to place the left 2 clue in row 16 at R16C4-R16C5, this will cause row 14 to be invalid. So R16C4 is a dot. More line logic.

Next I looked at the 3 clue in row 16. If you place it as far left as you can (R16C9-R16C11), this will cause row 15 to be invalid. So R16C9 must be a dot. More line logic.

Looking at the 5 clue in row 4, if it is all the way right it can go, then R4C14 would have to be part of the 3 clue, and R4C13 would be forced to black. But this will cause row 5 to be invalid, so R4C20 is a dot (then R4C19 a dot with line logic). Next R5C21 will be a dot with edge logic. (One more black with line logic.)

Next back to the 5 clue in row 4. Simple edge logic will make R4C18 a dot. Some more line logic.

And I'm going to have to stop here for now.

From where Gator leaves off (as he didn't return), a little bit of lookahead solves the puzzle.

Continue with simple logic from Gator's leaveoff point, then look at R4C10. If that square is true - either with a 3 on the left or a 5 on the right - R5 has a contradiction however R4 is solved. Therefore, R4C10 is a dot. This fills in two squares for the 3 and two squares in C15, thus allowing a lot of dots to be filled in. Line logic almost completely solves the right side now, but a few squares remain.

Once stuck again, move to C2 (this might be doable in Gator's steps BTW). Look again at the three. Assume the bottom squares are true (upper are thus dots). The 3 and 4 in R13-14 are extended, making R13C5 and R14C6 dots. C5 would have the 3 extend down, causing R15's 3 to fill in. This leaves a contradiction in C6. Therefore, R14C2 is a dot. After simple logic, R9C3 can be deduced to be a dot, making R9C6, R14C6, and R9C16 all filled.

To finish the top left corner, let's assume R1C10 is true. This leads after simple logic to a contradiction in R2. We can now solve the corner. With the closure made here, easy line logic makes R2C11 false.

In R10, if the first 3 is all the way to the left, multiple column contradictions quickly occur on the left. R10C2 is thus a dot. The rest solves extremely easily via simple logic.

Fun to solve but had to guess a couple of times. Image is not fun, but appropriate to the story.
#16: Gator (gator) on Sep 25, 2020 [HINT]
Thanks Bryan! And thanks BlackCat for bringing me back here. I'm going to substitute the step that made R14C2 a dot with some 2-way logic. Looking at the 2 clue in R16, no matter if R16C6 or R16C8 is black, this will force the left 3 clue in R15 at R15C4-6. The rest solves with LL.

Found to be solvable with moderate lookahead by gator.
