We got about 4 1/2" in the house. I sucked 26 gallons of water out of the carpet with a ShopVac, but everything still feels damp. The water over the road in was finally low enough yesterday to drive our cars in, and we bought a dehumidifier last night.

Most of our stuff was saved, but everything in the fridge thawed out and the house stinks of rotten meat and swamp water. We may end up tearing out the carpet.

Yeah, Kurt, I was pretty obvious with the title, to anyone who was reading my Facebook entries.

May I throw in an "UGH" in reference to the beastie.

I hope you get it all cleaned up. Flood damage is insidious.

Luckily, we have indoor/outdoor carpet with no padding, and no insulation in the walls, so the moisture isn't hiding inside or under surfaces. We may need to rent a steam cleaner, though, since there's a lingering stink to the carpets.

I cleaned out the refrigerator today. First we refroze the freezer before i threw out the rotten meat, but there was a lot of, um, red ice left behind.

Eww is right! Hope you find "cleanness" after this mess. Good luck!

I really enjoyed this puzzle, because of the amusing way the worm solved from tail forward.

I hope half a year later the mess is gone and forgotten.

Yes, the flood damage is all cleaned up, but we're still hoping to move into a larger (non-flooding) place soon.
