Puzzle Description:

Our next stop was Peggy's Cove. Be careful not to get too close to the edge of the ocean. Each year several unsuspecting people are swept into the ocean, due to a sudden wave that comes out of nowhere. It is truly a sight to behold while standing on the rocks and looking out over the Atlantic ocean.

I made this one a 20xB&W for our buddy sgusa. I had to use blots to make it a better challenge.:)

Great image. You made me curious so I looked it up. Spectacular scenery.

Thx Travis.:)
#5: Aldege Cholette (aldege) on Aug 27, 2012
Thx Norma, trust me even pictures of it doesn't give you the surreal feeling of being on the rocks. It's something you should try to experience if at all possible.:)

My husband was just talking about the Azores, which is a group of tiny, rocky islands, one of which contains an Air Force base (so planes could refuel mid-Atlantic). The school for all the AF brats is at the highest point on the island, and there's a tall fence around the schoolyard. Not to keep animals out, but to keep the smaller childen from being swept of the hilltop by the strong winds.

Thanks for the puzzle, Aldege. Great image. We took a cruise from Montreal to Boston, and had a day in Halifax. We went to Lunenburg instead of Peggy's Cove. Late May, and the weather was frigid and wet once we left Quebec City. As an aside, Kristen, I met my father-in-law's sailboat in Horta, Faial, Azores where he was refueling to complete the trip to the Med. Beautiful and a little odd. There are no shop signs, rather like Victorian America, shopkepers would have a shingle featuring what they were selling (steak for a butcher, fish for a fishmonger, etc.).

Thanks for making a smaller puzzle, I appreciate them, too.

This looks sort of like an old mission church in the American southwest.

#11: Jota (jota) on Aug 28, 2012
I also googled it, it's spectacular Al! I want to go there, I'll try next summer! WOW!
What a nice vacation! I am learning a little about Canada thru my "History of the US" courses. I also have a favorite movie, "La grande séduction", have you seen it? I recommend it to everyone!
#12: Aldege Cholette (aldege) on Aug 28, 2012
Thx Tom and Jota. yeah i'm getting use to blots being an important tool too adding to the solvability challenge for puzzle solvers. It makes it a bit harder to create a puzzle, but when you know they're too easy,it allows you to add to the challenge.:)

Again Jota,as spectacular as it seems in pictures and video,it's something you have to experience. I do hope you get to see it on your vacation, and if you do,make a point of driving down the Cabot Trail in Cape Breton. Go through the Cape Breton National Park part of the trail, you will not believe your eyes, trust me,it's awesome. Oh and don't forget to visit me also.:)

Thanks for a great puzzle Aldege...fun to solve! I saw what Joel saw...and in addition to that, I can also see a Janus-headed pigeon lol! After your description, though...I agree with everyone else...it's a place I want to visit someday!
#22: Aldege Cholette (aldege) on Aug 30, 2012
Thx JoDeen.:)
#23: Susan Duncan (medic25733) on Sep 1, 2012 [SPOILER]
It is a beautiful site to see and I can see why everyone wants to visit but I prefer the lesser known lighthouses along the south shore of Nova Scotia where there aren't bus loads of tourists. Great puzzle Aldege
#24: Aldege Cholette (aldege) on Sep 2, 2012 [SPOILER]
Thx Susan, that's true about all the tourist, but we lucked out and their weren't that many people to diminish the enjoyment of our visit. The last time i was at Peggy's Cove was in the fall. It was cool and windy, and there was only 4 or 5 people there. The best part was, while i was standing on the highest part of the rock,a Canadian Snowbird plane flew above me,and he tipped his wings and did some trick manoeuvers for me. That was real cool.:)
#25: Joel Lynn (furface1) on Sep 2, 2012
Aldege, are you sure it wasn't a lady pilot? ;)
#26: Aldege Cholette (aldege) on Sep 2, 2012
Now that you mention it Joel,i'm not sure. :)
#27: Velma Warren (Shiro) on Aug 14, 2018
Nice story. Hard to see image. No guessing needed to solve. Fun.
#28: BlackCat (BlackCat) on Apr 10, 2020
I thought this was a turkey at first. Fun to solve anyway.
