Puzzle Description:

Did that guy just give me the finger? The more people I meet, the better I like myself. This is one of MY favourite sayings, whenever i meet someone who is obnoxious and rude. I don't know if this qualifies or is worthy of being included with your series Norma, and i hope you don't mind that i made this. If you do,i will delete it. Thx for the inspiration.

I must be slow...I can't see the picture. Could you eplain what I'm looking at? I see a person on the left with a gap in their head, and a strange looking thing on the right with an O for a mouth??
#2: Aldege Cholette (aldege) on Aug 22, 2012 [SPOILER]
Lol,that's the way i make peoples faces Jennifer, they're never complete. Most people here have gotten use to it. The guy on the left is giving me the finger and I(at right) have a gaping mouth, and a look of disbelief at the fact that the guy is a jerk. The image is not so important,as the saying is. What it means is that there are so many rude and obnoxious people around, that i actually start to believe that i'm not that bad of a person, and that i actually like myself. Or with every bad person i meet,i start liking myself more. Hope this helps Jennifer.:)

It's hard to find a source for that quote. The closest I can find is, "The more I see of men, the more I like dogs." -Mme de Staël
#4: Tom O'Connell (sensei69) on Aug 22, 2012
i guess you have become an author of a "saying" Aldege
#5: Jennifer Jones (geekess) on Aug 22, 2012
Aldege thanks for clarifying. My brain is a bit fuzzy due to Strep, so maybe it was just me. :)
#6: Joel Lynn (furface1) on Aug 22, 2012
Hope you feel better soon, Jennifer.

Aldege, you're not that bad of a person. Lots of us here like you...
#7: Tom King (sgusa) on Aug 22, 2012
I don't see a logical solution. 3/4 of the puzzle is done. A small square in the upper left and the upper right corner, I can't logically solve. Please help. Thanks, Tom
#8: Tom O'Connell (sensei69) on Aug 23, 2012 [HINT]
Tom...I did smile logic on the 4....
#9: Aldege Cholette (aldege) on Aug 23, 2012
Not a problem Jennifer,my puzzles are not always the easiest to decipher, sorry about your strep throat, not fun, hope you get better soon.:)

Thx Joel, yes i know i have a lot of good friends here on WEBPBN,and i realize i'm not that bad of a person, but i've met a lot of people that are such jerks, that it makes me feel good about the person i am. Mind you i've met a lot more wonderful people than jerks, which is nice.:)

#10: Bruce Yanoshek (yanogator) on Aug 23, 2012
Yes, Tom, I used smile logic on the 4, also. I didn't have trouble in the other corner, though.

I love the nonplussed expression on your face, Aldege.
It cracks me up!
#12: Tom O'Connell (sensei69) on Aug 23, 2012
aldege is nonplussed???? lol
#13: Aldege Cholette (aldege) on Aug 23, 2012
Thx marjorie,i thought that was funny too.:)
#14: Tom King (sgusa) on Aug 23, 2012
Thanks, Tom & Bruce. Frown logic. The upper left solved out after I entered the 4 in the upper right.
#15: Tom O'Connell (sensei69) on Aug 24, 2012 [SPOILER]
yep, though its rare...he is frowning
#16: Susan Duncan (medic25733) on Aug 27, 2012 [SPOILER]
Aldege I like this saying. I used to work with a partner who used to say that if he had to choose one person to work with that person would have to be himself!
#17: Aldege Cholette (aldege) on Aug 27, 2012
Thx Susan, that's funny, and for the most part i agree with him.:)
#18: Jota (jota) on Aug 28, 2012
I like your puzzle and your saying Al. I always say to those that "I know how difficult is to be perfect" :•D
#19: Aldege Cholette (aldege) on Aug 28, 2012
Thx Jota, that's a good saying too.:)
#20: valerie o..travis (bigblue) on Sep 5, 2012
good one al :)
#21: Aldege Cholette (aldege) on Sep 14, 2012
Thx Travis.:)

Good one. My husband always tells me that I am the only person he knows who keeps saying "I like myself", so this is a great puzzle! I tell others....if you don't like yourself ...change!

Found to be solvable with deep lookahead by infrapinklizzard.
#24: Joe (infrapinklizzard) on Apr 18, 2021 [HINT]
After LL,
EL 4 r3 = c10-11, c18-19 white
LL

At this point, all I see is deep lookahead.

The least deep I found was
If the 2 in c10 were in r10-11 (making the rest of that column white), then
> That would force the 2 in c11 into r4-5
> Which would force the 2 in c12 to be right next to it (making c13 white right next to that)
> which would not leave enough room for the 2,1 in c13
= So c10r10-11 must be white
LL

three-way logic on the 2 in c11:
> if it were in either r4-5 or r5-6, then c11r5 would be black
> If it were in r6-7, then c10r6-7 would be white, forcing c10r5 to be black, which would make c11c5 black
= therefore c11r5 must be black
LL

no matter where you put the 2 in c19, c18r5 will be black.
(which is a four-way logic:
> both r4-5 and r5-6 immediately make it black
> both r6-7 and r7-8 will make c18r7 white, which will then force the 2 in c18 to make c18r5 black
= therefore c18r5 must be black
LL

If the 2 in c19 were in r4-5,
> it would make those rows in r18 black and those rows in c16-17 white
> which would force both 2s in c16 & c17 into [r6-8] making r7c16-17 black, conflicting with r7's clues
= So it can't be in r4-5 and c19r4 must be white
LL to finish

#25: Joe (infrapinklizzard) on Apr 18, 2021 [HINT]
BTW, there is no smile logic on the 4 in r3. That is picture "logic" (aka guessing). You could put the 4 on either side and then continue quite a few steps without conflict.
