So...what it is? A coffee grinder? A pasta maker? Maybe a fondant roller? 'Cause you know how much mules like fancy cakes.

Looks like it has a crank on it. I guess it was a great improvement over kneeling by a stream with a rock.

especially in the winter time :)

I never understood what mules have to do with soap. Do they haul it out of the mine? Why so many? 20 is a big team of mules!

Turns out they used 20-mule teams to haul the borax.

wow...thx K

Borax is what commercial pest control companies brush into carpets to get rid of fleas (it dehydrates them). We did it once when my Golden was covered with them. Worked well, and smells good...FYI

Phew, thx sgusa,i thought i might be the only one old enough to remember the 20 mule team commercials for Borax detergent. oh except for sensei of course.lol.:)

I don't remember the commercials, but I thought Borax as soon as I saw the title.

We had one of these washing machines running about 20 years ago. With an electric mangle. It had a safety bar on either side that would release the pressure in case you got your fingers caught. That was very nice as I did a few times. On the other hand, though, it was on a hair trigger so sometimes it would just POP for no reason. Very annoying.

On a side note: borax is also in Boraxo, a powdered hand soap that is *excellent* for cleaning dirty and oily hands. We use it at the blacksmith shop.
