I missed something...are the blotted clues a new thing, or a glitch? At any rate, I solved it, but I'm not fond of the covered clues.
#3: Kurt Kowalczyk (bahabro) on Jul 29, 2012
not a glitch, Liz....it's a new thing, and I was just playing with it a little. blotting a few clues might make a really simple solve with a decent image worthwhile and fun. I did a lot of blots here just to see how a fill-in would solve. try a few of the others with a black square next to the title before giving up on them entirely. I liked how my WCP puzzle turned out. I think most are still figuring it out yet and getting used to it.

It gives the solving a bit of a spin, but this one solved out logically. Nice puzzle!

thanks gator

I liked it Kurt. It turned what would have been an easy puzzle into a bit of a challenge.

You know all those super easy "minimal" puzzles that some of us made? They might become actual puzzle with these blots. I might go back and edit some of mine.

I agree with Brian. I liked the bit of difficulty the blots added. I bet a lot of the old 10 x 10 puzzles could be made into "blot" puzzles.

great idea Bran
#9: Norma Dee (norm0908) on Jul 30, 2012
A few years back Tetsuya Nishio introduced this idea and a few other ideas at the end of one his books. Blots are a fun variation now and then but wouldn't want to see them all the time.

Darn, I thought I'd invented them.

Oh well. It was kind of too obvious an idea never to have been done before.

I'm not sure I'm in love with them either, but, then, I'm not sure I'm in love with color puzzles. I think it's nice to have some variety.

I keep thinking about how I can do triddlers.
#11: Tom O'Connell (sensei69) on Jul 31, 2012
triddlers can be tough
#12: Tara Pibel (tarap56) on Jul 31, 2012
I liked the difficulty level of this puzzle and I like the image.

Very enjoyable and interesting to solve, Kurt.

Ok, I'll bite...what's a "triddler"?
#16: Kristen Vognild (kristen) on Aug 2, 2012
It's something they have at griddlers.net, which uses clues from 3 directions. Lots of regulars in here also have Griddlers accounts.
#17: Tom O'Connell (sensei69) on Aug 2, 2012
Sensei doesn't

The cells are triangles, so that the puzzle takes an overall hexagonal shape (though not necessarily a regular hexagon). There are clues for three directions instead of two. I've only solved a couple, but I imagine they'd tend to be a bit easier than regular puzzles, but the triangular grid can make for some very nice artwork.

If I ever support those, however, I may need to find a new name for them. The "Griddler" name was invented by an English newspaper when "Nonogram" was denied to them due to copyright issues. They likely copyrighted the name to protect themselves from further interference. If so, then "triddler" is like a copyrighted term too. I think the "griddlers.net" website has an association to that newspaper.

I found the triangles make the puzzles much harder to solve.
#20: Kadou (Kadou) on Sep 27, 2012
According to comment #17 Tom doesn't have a griddlers.net account. Where else would he have played puzzles with triangles???
#21: Joe (infrapinklizzard) on Sep 27, 2012
I don't have a griddlers account either. I also don't have a heroglyphics account. Both those sites (and this one) let you play puzzles without an account.

They also are not as nice as this site.

Tom, you forgot to say: "I also don't have a heroglyphics account."?
#24: Kadou (Kadou) on Oct 29, 2012
I'm sure everyone who's read the original comment #17 remembers it was: "I don't".
