The sizes depends of the results of "check" and the space I need.

When it then is too big because I had to add something e.g. to make it better (after trying myself to solve it)/more interesting to solve/ I need an odd number of squares in a certain direction or just otherwise the motive itself is too unrecognizeable at all, I have to add squares...

I was solving your puzzles in my own peculiar order Julia. I started with the smallest and worked my way up. :)
