This reminds me of a story that I've heard about but not read. It is about a boy growing up in Quebec and his mother orders him a hockey sweater from the Eaton's catalogue. But when it arrives, disaster - instead of being a Canadiens sweater, it is a Maple Leafs sweater. A young boy in rural Quebec wouldn't be caught dead in a Maple Leafs sweater (or perhaps that's the most likely consequence).
