Puzzle Description:
Lewis Carroll
#1: BlackCat (BlackCat) on May 31, 2012
I am no good at quotes and yet I really liked this puzzle. Very colorful, very imaginative, lovely detail and quite a tough, fun solve. Nothing tricky in the solving, just need alot of patience and concentration.#2: Teresa K (fasstar) on May 31, 2012 [SPOILER]
Oh my! Such fun that was. I saw a piggy with a kerchief around his neck, and a cabbage, and what looked like a strip mall in the background, and perhaps a vehicle. So I thought it was "This little pig went to market." I thought, how clever to disguise a nursery rhyme as a literary quote. And I marveled at the perfection of that cabbage (quite well done!) and the cuteness of the pig.#3: l terrell (laterrell) on May 31, 2012 [SPOILER]
When the description said Lewis Carroll, and vague memories brought me to remember... Then I realized that's not a kerchief that piggy is wearing. But I'll say no more, and wait for others to enjoy remembering and figuring it out.
Very enjoyable, L. I hope you will treat us with more like this. :-)
Excellent deduction, Teresa! And some good ideas for later. I see Mother Goose in my future...#4: Nancy (nbarsi) on May 31, 2012 [SPOILER]
This one was hard to do somewhat small without covering up too much, so the colors are a little crazy! Hopefully that makes the riddle more fun. (=
Thanks! I worried about that cabbage!
Ka-loo Ka-lay we eat today like cabbages and kings. Spelling is always a ? when it comes to Alice. I did think it was the walrus and the carpenter and not so sure about the pig So my answer may well be way off the mark!#5: l terrell (laterrell) on May 31, 2012 [SPOILER]
"You are closer than you think and farther than you believe", Nancy. (That was a Winnie the Pooh paraphrase right there, free of charge!) Keep thinking, but don't over-think your first instinct. (=#6: Nancy (nbarsi) on May 31, 2012 [SPOILER]
...or while the sea was boiling hot and whether pigs have wings ka-loo ka-lay we eat today like cabbages and kings Thank -you for the hint now it makes perfect sense. Awesome puzzle, laterrell#7: Teresa K (fasstar) on Jun 1, 2012 [SPOILER]
I believe I see a shoe, and a ship, and... is that Lewis Carroll's sealing wax? I do believe it is!#8: Nancy (nbarsi) on Jun 1, 2012 [SPOILER]

Thank-you Teresa, I knew I was close just couldn't wrap my mind around the correct phrasing.#9: Susan Duncan (medic25733) on Jun 3, 2012 [SPOILER]
Great puzzle but I am no good at quotes either and have heard this one before. You captured the image just right#10: Kristen Vognild (kristen) on Jun 3, 2012 [SPOILER]
The time has come, the Walrus said, to talk of many things#11: Kristen Vognild (kristen) on Jun 3, 2012 [SPOILER]
Of shoes and ships and sealing-wax, of cabbages and kings
And why the sea is boiling hot, and whether pigs have wings.
All that Callooh Callay stuff was added into the Disney version, kludging it together with Jabberwocky.
And hast thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy
Oh frabjous day, Callooh Callay!
He chortled in his joy.
That's actually the only verse of The Walrus and the Carpenter that I can recite in its entirety, but I've memorized all of Jabberwocky. :)#12: Nancy (nbarsi) on Jun 4, 2012 [SPOILER]
That is really amazing Kristen. Thanks
