Many, many years ago, my husband and I made the decision not to put any poisonous weed killer or chemical fertilizer on our lawn for the sake of our children and the animals that lived on and in our yard. We have a very large yard and were the only people in the neighborhood with dandilions, sigh. We figured it was a small price to pay to keep our children safe. They could play, roll around in our grass (but not the neighbors')...all these years later, not one of our six children developed asthma, hay fever or any of a number of those type afflictions, while we observed a large number of our neighbors' children suffering with these things. Say what you will, I'm pretty convinced that we can attribute a number of these things to the use of chemicals on our lawns.

We are fervently organic over here, too. I also encourage other things to grow in my lawn, not just grass, in order to feed the pollinators. I'm not sure all of my neighbors appreciate my quirky lawn full of ajuga, clover, dandelions, wild geraniums, and those tiny strawberries, but I think it's just exactly right.

Lol...we eat the dandilion greens when they are tender.
