Puzzle Description:

only two houses on my block..but when i look out the front window, i see the side/back view of the fire and first-aid buildings...these are brave all volunteer men and women who serve this town and we're very proud of them..when a new truck comes in and they have a wet down, it is one big all day celebration, which usually ends up with more then the truck getting wet :)..good times and good people

Great job, Travis. My former son-in-law, with whom I still have a good relationship, is a volunteer firefighter in a small town near Ottawa. These wonderful people get the same training, write the same tests, maintain the same physical fitness, and put themselves in the same danger as the big-city firefighters, but they do it for a sense of duty and community without the paycheque.

Great job, Travis. I like the negative image. I truly am enjoying these visits to everyone's neighborhood. And I especially like this tribute to your town's volunteer firefighters.

thank you both susan and teresa, i enjoyed doing this tribute puzzle, just like i enjoyed the tribute puzzles for my nieces graduation and my other nieces play she was in.
it is fun visiting everyone's neighborhood :)

Susan, my former son-in-law (and great father to my granddaughter, which is why we still have that good relationship) is in Mountain.

Lollipop - your former son-in-law and I are practically neighbours. I can be in Mountain in less than an hour.

I love fire trucks. My husband was a call firefighter in our town and retired after I got sick. He put in 20 years and they are still calling him to come back! A call firefighter is one that volunteers to be called in when our town's full time firefighters are not enough for the fire (ie: house fires, woods fires, busy days when there are multiple calls.) He used to get paid once a year as a stipend to help with mostly travel costs. It didn't matter how long he was there, he made only 20-25 dollars a call.

ellen, you have a good man there...our town is one square mile and if we have a big fire and need help they will call our neighboring towns for their assistance. thankfully it is very rare that we get multiple calls.

So glad this puzzle came up. Really enjoyed the solve. My brother was a volunteer fireman for many years in a small town in Arizona. When he died (the big C got him) they put his casket on a fire truck and there was a long parade to the grave yard. Very moving.
