I thought the 2nd and 3rd players had upset marks above their heads...like they were sad to lose. But it could be hair.

Excellent puzzle Arlo! I really like your 3 contestants too. I think that #3 is my favorite. Looks like her (or his) hair is standing straight up. I also like how you staggered the platform height for each place. Nicely done. :D

Excellent job, Arlo! It was a fun puzzle. While I did it, I hoped that YOU were the winner!

I'm a little embarrassed to have taken so long to get around to solving my son's puzzle. He posted it while I was cleaning the house for Thanksgiving, and I really didn't pay a whole lot of attention to what he was up to, and then completely forgot about the whole thing. I just ran across it now, and it actually made me very happy. Solving the little figures was fun and the final result is absolutely genuine kid art, a genre of which more samples are carefully preserved for posterity than all other categories combined.

In case it is of interest, your number "1" is backwards.

I still don't get what is on their heads.

This is definitely some archetypal kid art! My son made a few when I first started puzzling. I credit him (age 9) on each puzzle, but there's some fascinating stuff!
