Like the flip flops! Now-a-days a person isn't supposed to call them thongs. They were thongs when they were introduced to us back in the 50's...but today thongs are worn on a different part of the body.#2: Brian Bellis (mootpoint) on Mar 25, 2012
...oh...and if you forget and refer to someone's flip-flops as thongs in public with a grown up daughter or growing up grandchild around, you get shushed along with "Mom, I've tooooold you..." comments.
AKA Zories. Would one be a zory?#3: Aldege Cholette (aldege) on Mar 25, 2012 [SPOILER]
Excellent flip flops Brian, great image.:)#4: Jennifer McMahon (kalamalama) on Mar 26, 2012 [SPOILER]
In Hawai`i people call them slippers and wear them all the time, but never indoors, winter and summer. It's a Japanese custom not to wear shoes inside. They are left at the door. The Islanders picked up on that custom.#5: Kristen Vognild (kristen) on Mar 26, 2012 [SPOILER]
I remember calling them thongs in the late '70s, but switching over to flip-flops because it was funner to say. ;)#6: Trish217 (Trish217) on Mar 26, 2012
I still hear "thong sandals" (vs. "thong underwear") in the Deep South. Of course, folks also say "ink pen," because "pen" and "pin" are pronounced the same 'round here.

Thanks. It is a pretty easy series. Not too much of a challenge.
