Puzzle Description:

Kid powered merry-go-rounds. Ortho docs probably lost 20% of their business when they got rid of these and monkey bars.

There are still alot around in the rural areas. Interesting theme.

You can still find old, rusty ones on occasion. They also got rid of see-saws. I guess kids can't learn applied physics anymore. :P

Way back in 1990, I lived on a naval base while attending a military school, and there was one of these right behind my quarters. It squeaked pretty loud when it was turned, and some of my classmates would 'play' on it it the wee hours of the morning, waking up me and my house-mate. By the time I'd get to the window to see who was making the racket, they'd be gone. Age 35 going on 12.

There is still one of these and monkey bars and a seesaw in the playground at the school near where I live. I used to love taking the grandkids there when they were smaller. Gave me a chance to play on them. Great puzzle Brian

Thanks everyone. Good story Joel. I think I would have either gone out there with grease or a welder to solve that problem.

Thanks Kadou. I wasn't sure anyone even noticed the kid flying off.

lol.. I noticed the kid flying off. That was always me. lol.. Anyway, there's a couple parks in my old neighborhood that have these. I don't know of any monkey bars though. But yea, lots of seesaws still around too. Good times.

this is excellent - especially the kid flying off. I love it! I loved these until I developed vertigo as a young child. but I still enjoyed watching other kids playing on them. well done.

There's a meme that says "If you've ever played on this puke-causing, concussion-giving, bone-breaking, kid rocket-launching hunk of metal and survived … you are a true warrior!"

Hilarious!
I remember the see-saw being just as dangerous, especially during dismounting.

Good times. :)

Can confirm these are definitely still around, though they're generally made a little more sturdily and often set flush with the ground so there's no height difference. My 3 year old loves to push other kids around and around!
And there are plenty of monkey bars and seesaws everywhere as well. All the new playgrounds have fun interesting variations too!

Nausea personified!

Love the kid flying off :)))

This was what I played on as a child...our little parochial school had all of this equipment, plus an old pipe mental hitching rail that we used to spin around on!

Mental hitching rail, JoDeen? That sounds a bit creepy, lol.
