Derby, I'm originally from Montreal. I go back to when there were six teams in the NHL. As a teen I watched hockey every Saturday night while babysitting. I could identify every single player on the ice just by the way they played, and I was a huge Habs fan. Well, obviously. But after expansion, and then a move to Ottawa, I lost interest by degrees, and I just shook my head and stopped caring entirely after The Mighty Ducks of Anaheim came into the league. It seemed like a mockery, a team named after a Disney movie, in a place without winter.
My only grandson played hockey as a defenseman in a city-wide junior league when he was in high school. I would go to his games, and at first he was shocked that his "ancient" grandmother knew all the rules and cheered in all the right places. (Less ancient than I am now, lol)
