Puzzle Description:

Inspired by puzzle 6547, winner of WCP #41: From the pages of a book

When I clicked the link to the source photo,

I was struck by the haunting image. I wanted to try to capture that feeling, while keeping the same parameters as the original puzzle.

If looks best when you step back from the screen.

#3: Kristen Vognild (kristen) on Jan 27, 2012
Thanks, Karl :)

Excellent work Kristen,i think yours captures the look of a young girl in despair more accurately than the winning puzzle did.:)
#5: Jota (jota) on Jan 27, 2012
Thanks for a magnificent entry!
#6: Lollipop (lollipop) on Jan 27, 2012

#9: Kristen Vognild (kristen) on Jan 27, 2012
Sorry, Al! The two comments I read today were from ladies (granted, this is an assumption on Lollipop's part)

Thank you!

Thanks, Michelle!

Are you sure, Tom? You didn't have a recent surgery we need to know about? ;)
#13: Carol Brand (KarylAnn) on Jan 28, 2012 [SPOILER]
Wow, Kristen. What a fantastic rendition of Robyn's original puzzle! I had a little trouble around her left eye, so I gave it a little higher rating on the Difficulty. Thanks for a great puzzle!
#14: Kristen Vognild (Kristen) on Jan 28, 2012 [HINT]
Yeah, it was hard to get her eyes just right, since they were looking off to the side. I used the L key when I got stuck on her eye, and it showed me a dot I had missed.
#15: Susan Duncan (medic25733) on Jan 28, 2012
Fantastic image!
#16: Kai-Uwe Zickerick (conzick) on Jan 28, 2012
Kristen, you're right: it's getting better and better the more I step back from the monitor. I'm now fifty meters away... :-)

To tell the truth: it is a wonderful picture!
#17: Kristen Vognild (kristen) on Jan 28, 2012
Thanks for the backhanded compliment, Kai! :)
#18: Nancy (nbarsi) on Jan 30, 2012
Simply amazing, Kristen
#19: Teresa K (fasstar) on Feb 1, 2012
Great title, beautiful image, and enjoyable solve. As much as I liked Robyn's, this is even better!
#20: Kadou (Kadou) on Feb 1, 2012 [SPOILER]
Smooth solving and beautiful image.
I would have given it 6 stars if a little less shadow on the nose. :ยค)
#21: Kristen Vognild (Kristen) on Feb 1, 2012
Haha, thanks. I tried it with less shadow, but too many white spots looked weird.
#22: Kadou (Kadou) on Feb 1, 2012 [SPOILER]
A good nose is a hard thing to do! A little cheating is allowed.
#23: Kristen Vognild (Kristen) on Feb 1, 2012 [SPOILER]
I wanted to avoid an outline of her nose. I had to do a partial outline to make her eye solvable, but I tried to stay true to the photograph.
#24: Kadou (Kadou) on Feb 1, 2012 [SPOILER]
I respect that. I just spent almost 2 hours on her nose. ;) That's why I don't create many large puzzles, the variations are endless.
I'll stop at this one: http://i1015.photobucket.com/albums/af278/Kadou_photo/Web%20PbN/annefrank.jpg

Thanks, Teresa!
