I like this animal of yours. I thought that it may be a rabbit in the beginning, but nicely done!!

So cute! I used to dress up as a skunk every Halloween in Middle school. :)

You don't think it has a dachshund-like look to it? I even thought it might be a weiner dog dressed as a hot dog until I did the tail. Super cute, either way. :)

HaHa, Kristen! We did spend 10 days on vacation with friends and their dachshund. Maybe that is it!

Very nice skunk! We once had a collie who never learned to leave skunks alone. That dog always smelled so bad!

I was out walking one night and this cat rubbed against my leg but when I reached down to pet it, I saw the stripe. It must have been someone's pet to be so tame but it scared the (r*P out of me.

Fun skunk facts: they really don't like to spray and will try to warn you off by several methods before resorting to it. They will stamp their feet and even stand on their *front* legs to get your attention. If that doesn't work (or if you're still barking and lunging at them like our dog loved to) then you're in for it.

I heard a story from an old-timer around here who was telling of his childhood. He'd heard that if you grab a slunk by the tail it won't spray you. So, being a ten-year-old, he decided to try it out when he met a skunk by the side of the road one day.

He snuck up on it quietly and slowly. The skunk knew he was there, but being a skunk, didn't really care. Blasé little buggers. So he gets really close and reaches out....

And chickened out. He froze almost touching the tail and then waited until the skunk walked away about five hours later. Or possibly a minute or so in real time.

The skunk was not bothered by this in the least.

Joe: Laughed at that. I was fishing the Madison River in MT. It was mid-September. An old-timer (probably me now), invited us to see the flies he was tying. We were there way after dark. Returning to the Celica (where we had not set up camp and left the car doors open), I was leading my buddy who had the Coleman Lantern. I was on the outer edge of the light, and I approached the open car door, I noticed movement in the cooler we had left open as well. September near Yellowstone gets below freezing every night so we thought nothing of it. The circle of light hit the animal in our cooler. Yes, a skunk. My buddy said he had never seen anyone backtrack faster than me at that moment. The car never smelled of skunk, and I wasn't sprayed. The skunk had a well balanced meal of hotdogs, cheese and bread...
