Puzzle Description:

A knitting pattern for a hat I made. Island is the Norwegian name for Iceland.

Thanks for the fun puzzle. We had an au pair from Iceland. I have studied going there for several years. It is supposed to be fairly temperate year 'round.

I usually don't like country or text puzzles, but the way you combined them both here made for an interesting solve. Do you live in Iceland? Which pixel would represent your home?

No, I dont't. I live in Norway. I visited Iceland in February last year, and since I had one of my knitting crazes I made myself my own souvenir.

You can blame those wily Vikings, Tom. They wanted Iceland to themselves, so they gave it an oppressive-sounding name. Greenland, on the other hand, is most covered by glaciers, so they wanted any non-Viking explorers to go there, instead. :)

Gjertrud, my maiden name is Vognild. My great-grandfather came from Vognill, which is next to Oppdal.

Kristen: That's something like 10 hours of driving from where I live, but I actually drove by it this summer :)

Here's a picture of how it turned out btw: http://twitpic.com/82orom
